Description

Project Manager – Wildlife Road Toll Reduction

  • Meaningful project supporting wildlife welfare and safer roads across Victoria
  • Part-time role – 15 hours per week, fixed-term (6 months)
  • Hybrid working – inner city office location and work from home

Wildlife Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation that has provided Victoria with a statewide wildlife emergency response service since 1989.

A wonderful opportunity exists for an experienced project professional to lead the next phase of a critical initiative aimed at reducing the impact of road trauma on native wildlife. This 6-month fixed-term, part-time role (15 hours per week) will suit someone who is passionate about wildlife conservation and stakeholder collaboration, and who brings strong project coordination and communication skills.

This newly created role is responsible for progressing a project that works in partnership with local governments to develop practical, data-informed solutions that mitigate wildlife road toll in their regions. You will consult with councils under a fee-for-service model, using available data and insights to guide planning and policy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading all aspects of the Wildlife Road Toll Reduction, managing schedules, resources and reporting
  • Preparing and analysing project data and delivering insights in a clear and compelling way
  • Working closely with local government stakeholders, presenting proposals and mitigation strategies
  • Supporting advocacy and engagement efforts across councils and key partners
  • Preparing tailored partnership materials and maintaining accurate documentation
  • Pitching the fee-for-service model with an understanding of government processes and funding structures
  • Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy and External Relations and engaging internal teams where needed

Key Selection Criteria

  • A demonstrated passion for wildlife welfare and community impact
  • Relevant qualifications or substantial experience in project coordination, stakeholder engagement or similar
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in PR, communications, marketing or a related role
  • Experience working with or within government, and an understanding of council processes
  • Confidence presenting proposals and reporting on progress and milestones
  • Strong ability to manage competing priorities while working autonomously
  • Experience in community engagement or advocacy, preferably within a not-for-profit environment
  • A current driver’s licence and access to your own vehicle, with the ability to travel to council sites as required

Experience with Salesforce or knowledge of road safety strategies will be viewed favourably, but are not essential.

This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to a project with genuine environmental and community impact. You will be supported by a passionate and collaborative team and will play a key role in shaping the future of wildlife protection on Victorian roads.
